This will be the first ever Summerween event!
But what is Summerween?
Summerween is an informal celebration that occurs during the summer months, incorporating elements from Halloween festivities. The term originated in the 2012 Gravity Falls television episode "Summerween," in which the characters celebrate Halloween during the summer. Since the early 2020s, the concept has been adopted, primarily in the United States: for parties, social gatherings, marketing campaigns, and social-media posts with a Halloween theme during the summer months.
People often celebrate Summerween doing activities like:
Carve Jack-o'-Melons: Instead of pumpkins, carve watermelons or pineapples for a tropical twist on a spooky classic.
Host a Costume Pool Party: Decorate with skeletons in beach gear, play dark surf rock, and have a costume contest.
Watch Spooky Movies: Set up a projector for a horror movie night in the backyard or a horror-themed movie marathon, such as Beetlejuice or The Lost Boys.
Host a Backyard BBQ: Gather around a firepit for a "haunted BBQ" with spooky themed snacks and ghost stories. Serve jack-o'-lantern cheeseburgers, mummy-wrapped pigs in a blanket, or orange ice cream floats.
So how are we celebrating this year?
By having an online Summerween PARTY!
Join the official manokit discord server to take part in the online festivities. We will be having raffles, games, contests, goodies and whatnot in a discord call where everyone can hang out.
It will take place from noon Pacific Time to whenever we run out of things to do: who knows how long it will take, this is the first time we are hosting this. But knowing the community, we might be out partying ALL DAY. Be there or be square.
